"You must be the change you want to see in the world." - Gandhi

I chose to work with cause-focused organizations because I want to support people who are improving lives. Whether you're a nonprofit, social justice organization, social enterprise, or another type of company that believes a profit can serve a greater purpose, you’re my people.

And so are the folks below. We are in the businesses of doing things differently. We are change makers. We are active and engaged. Won’t you join us?

Atlanta Dream Center

Founded in 2003 by Pastor Paul Palmer and his family, ADC exists for one reason: To reach the lost, rescue those in need and restore the brokenhearted. They do this through three major ministries, iAm (homeless men), Out of Darkness (women who have been trafficked or prostituted) and Metro Kidz (at-risk children).

Project: Seeds of Hope Annual Benefit Dinner. I wrote the communications and collateral pieces, created a marketing plan, provided art direction, solicited sponsorships, formulated an event strategy, assisted in logistics, and wrote the post-event press release.

Be the Bridge

This budding organization utilizes resources and conversations to further racial reconciliation. They believe that the Church must become a bigger answer to this issue, and are equipping people to host racially diverse small groups that create open lines of communication.

Project: I wrote their #GivingTuesday email and social media campaign, and have consulted on their communications strategy. I also managed their social media during their official launch event.

Dr. Bombay’s / The Learning Tea

One of my favorite spots in Atlanta, this darling little tea shop in the Candler Park neighborhood funds “life scholarships” for girls in India. With these funds, girls can go to college, have a safe place to live, and have all their basic needs provided for. (And her chai is my absolute favorite!)

Project: I have consulted on their marketing and communications strategy, and also traveled to India to meet the girls in the program.

Orange is a division of The reThink Group, a nonprofit organization providing resources and training to help churches maximize their influence on the spiritual growth of the next generation. They have amazing curriculum from birth through adult years, and a fantastic series of events for church leaders, volunteers, students and kids.

Project: I served as the Event Marketing Director here for almost six years, so I pop in for odds and ends when they need outside help.

Restoration Dallas Chiropractic

They break down health and fitness concepts that have been publicized to seem more complex than they really are. Their goal is to provide you with simple, common-sense tips to preventing disease and live a fuller, healthier lifestyle.

Project: I consult on their marketing and communications efforts.

TrueNorth Freedom Project

TrueNorth helps individuals, families and ministries navigate our sex-saturated culture through resources and conversations. By learning how to talk about sexual issues with grace and compassion, relationships will be strengthened, kids will be better prepared for the challenges, and the Church will become more effective in leading many to true freedom in Christ.

Project: I wrote their 2016 year-end giving campaign, which included emails, social media and a printed letter. I also wrote copy for a 60-second video and printed piece. And I have consulted on general marketing and communications needs.

“‘Exceed expectations’ is an overused expression with few who can document occasions when they actually did exceed expectations. Kristi Porter is one who can point to the work she did with the Atlanta Dream Center and accurately state that she exceeded all of our expectations. You will be well pleased with the results achieved by bringing Kristi onto your team.”

- Mark N., Atlanta Dream Center

“I highly recommend Kristi Porter. When I was relaunching our website, Habitat.org, I needed to redevelop most of the key content on our highest trafficked web pages. Kristi was the perfect copywriter for the job who worked with me to find the right tone to make our most valuable pages come alive and help our web users find the information they were looking for. Once the project began, Kristi immediately dug into our brand guide to understand the organization’s voice and tone. She then met with me to better understand my goals for the redeveloped content. Kristi also delivered the content in a timely manner. I was very pleased with her work, and I plan to hire her again when the opportunity arises.”

- Duane B., Social Media and Content Marketing Strategist

“Kristi has a wonderful way with words and people. She is perceptive, intuitive, punctual, professional, and on top of all that, she’s really smart. She was able to dive into our subject matter quickly, offered an incredible amount of advice, and delivered even more than we expected. We will certainly work with her in the future.”

- Anne K., TrueNorth Freedom Project

“We’ve worked directly with Kristi for some time, and are always pleased with her resourcefulness, knowledge and expertise in helping us gain momentum and market share for our business. She’s super easy to work with, and is accessible and competitive in pricing for what she offers. We love her, and are super thankful for what she’s added to our business.”

- Mark M., Restoration Dallas Chiropractic

“Kristi has been a reliable freelance writer for our publications, including Connect Faith, over the past few years. She is well-connected in the industry, and takes care to hit deadlines and put together stories with strong sources. I'd recommend her for other writing projects.”

- Kelsey O., Connect Magazines

"Kristi Porter is an endless source of knowledge. She has helped Dr. Bombay’s and The Learning Tea with strategy and branding. She has also helped us clean up our website and given us tons of great ideas on how to find donors and partners for our project. This is a woman who is constantly in the know about everything from strategy and development to the business trends on social media. She will always go the extra mile. Aside from her ingenious ideas, she is a great human being and a pleasure to work with. And if you weren’t already hiring her, you would want to be her friend."

- Katrell C., Dr. Bombay's and The Learning Tea
